Beginning with the my original ‘Flower Vase’ series through the ‘Flowering Vine Vessel’ series and again in the body of work titled ‘Epergne’, I sought to examine how glass has been used historically and how it could be brought forward in a contemporary way to continue to adorn the home.  My latest project extends this exploration to the ‘Large Flower Vase’ pieces. When I think of gardens I think of something larger than life. They are a physically manipulated, living space that can, not only surround you, but also overpower you. These ideas have fed into the new blown vessels as they take on a larger, more voluptuous form. These pieces capture the beauty of the blooming on vessels, which reference historic forms that have evolved with a contemporary style.
